OpenDoors

This website is meant to support high school students who are still unsure about what career path they may want to pursue in university and beyond. Instead of a choice being made for them, users can take an interactive quiz that helps them reflect on what they are interested in, where they naturally do well, and what careers they might enjoy exploring.

By bringing together interests, strengths, and academic habits, the quiz is designed to guide users toward career directions that feel more realistic, personal, and worth exploring further. The goal of OpenDoors is not to force one perfect answer, but to help students understand themselves better and feel more confident about their next steps.

There are many resources worth exploring

Planning for your future is hard; but you don't have to go through it alone. There are millions of students just like you struggling with the same decision. Here are some resources that could help you along the journey.

Davin

Developer

Hi there. My name is Davin. I was originally studying Business Administration, but I am now switching over to Computer Science after discovering what I truly enjoy once I got into university. This is why we created "OpenDoors", a tool where high school students like me who doesn't know what they should go into in after high school. This tool helps students discover what career they should go into based on their interests before committing and spending money going to university.

Back-End Logic

Hi! I’m Mikaela, a first-year Computer Science student with a minor in Business Administration at Laurier University. While figuring out my post-secondary path, I bounced between majors — psychology, engineering, English, chemistry — trying to find my fit. No online test or in-school guidance really helped me, and everyone seemed to have their own vision for my future, not mine. That’s why I believe a platform like OpenDoors is so important: a space to explore yourself, connect with others, and discover the many paths that exist.

Content and Integration

I’m Joshua, a first-year Computer Science major at WLU. I’ve always liked computers, but I was never sure which program was right for me. That’s why I wanted to help create a website for teens like me who aren’t sure what career path or future they want. Our website, OpenDoors, allows high schoolers to figure out what they want to do in the near future.
